History
South Korea issued a 40 hwan commemorative at Seoul on 10 May 1961 for the fifteenth anniversary of the Girl Scouts of Korea.
Choon Whan Kang designed the stamp: a Girl Scout giving the three-finger salute before a camp of tents, with the Girl Scouts of Korea trefoil (GSK) and the Korean postal emblem at the head. The date 4294.5.10 appears at upper left. The printing is green lithography on granite paper watermarked with the Korean postal emblem.
The Government Printing Agency produced 500,000 stamps in panes of fifty, perforated 13½, and an imperforate souvenir sheet of 50,000. An imperforate single is also known.
