History
Gabon issued two commemorative stamps at Libreville on 17 October 1966 in honour of the Boy Scouts. Jacques Derrey designed and engraved both values; the French Stamp Printing Office in Paris printed them in recess, comb perforated 13. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 31 December 1967.
The 30 f is a horizontal design showing Scouts at a camp-fire: figures gather around stylised flames, with a Scout in the foreground reaching toward the fire. The 50 f is a vertical design with a Scout in uniform and campaign hat, surrounded by hands joined in a Scout handshake or oath gesture. Both stamps are inscribed République Gabonaise and carry Derrey's name in the design.
Both values also exist imperforate. Deluxe proofs (épreuves de luxe) from the Paris printing office are recorded for the set.
