History
Guatemala issued five airmail stamps on 6 December 1967 in Guatemala City for the Eighth Central American Boy Camporee, held from 1 to 8 December 1967. The issue consists of a black overprint on the five airmail designs released the previous year as a homage to national Scouting. The overprint reads VIII Camporee Scout / Centroamericano / Diciembre 1-8 / 1967. The underlying stamps remain inscribed HOMENAJE AL ESCULTISMO NACIONAL and CORREO AEREO, and carry the printer's mark STAATSDRUCKEREI WIEN.
The 5 c shows an orange Scout fleur-de-lis with the Guatemalan arms and quetzal above the motto SIEMPRE LISTO. The 9 c shows three Scouts seated around a camp-fire. The 10 c shows a Scout striding forward with a lit torch and the national flag against a yellow fleur-de-lis. The 15 c shows a Scout giving the three-finger salute before a fleur-de-lis and crossed national flags. The 20 c carries a portrait of Baden-Powell, named on the stamp.
The underlying stamps were printed in photogravure by the Austrian State Printing Works and are perforated 14 × 13½. Inverted overprints are recorded on at least the 5 c and 10 c values.
