History
The Bahamas issued three diamond-shaped commemoratives at Nassau on 23 February 1970 for the Diamond Jubilee of the Girl Guides (1910–1970). Mrs. Robert Sands, a member of the Bahamas Girl Guide Executive Committee, designed the set from sketches supplied by Guide groups. Harrison & Sons of London printed it by offset lithography in panes of fifty (ten rows of five), comb perforated 14½, 27 × 27 mm, on paper watermarked St. Edward's Crown and CA multiple. Each stamp is inscribed DIAMOND JUBILEE GIRL GUIDES and the years 1910 and 1970, with the royal cypher E II R under a crown.
The 3 c (BAHAMAS GUIDES) shows a globe ringed by figures holding hands and crossed flags — a Guide trefoil and a Blue Ensign — on a yellow ground with a dark blue border. The 12 c (BAHAMAS BROWNIES) shows a stylised Brownie among yellow flowers and a trefoil. The 15 c (BAHAMAS RANGERS) shows a yellow trefoil behind a globe and a SERVICE banner on a teal ground.
