History
Algeria issued a single commemorative at Algiers on 15 July 1973 for the World Scout Conference held in Nairobi. Hassan Boukendakdji designed the stamp; it is signed BOUKENDAKDJI and lettered BC ALGERIE. It was lithographed, comb perforated 10¾, in the format 30 × 40 mm, in panes of twenty-five, without watermark. The print run was 560,000. The stamp remained on sale until 6 November 1976.
The design is a white map of Africa on a purple ground, with the World Scout emblem in a disc over the continent. The stamp is inscribed CONFERENCE MONDIALE DU SCOUTISME, NAIROBI 1973, ALGERIE and 0,80 dinar, with Arabic at the top and right. Nairobi hosted the 24th World Scout Conference in July 1973.
