History
Ethiopia issued a 40 cent commemorative on 1 November 1973 for the opening of the Prince Makonnen Memorial Hospital. L. Peterlongo designed the stamp (signed L. PETERLONGO); Harrison & Sons printed it by photogravure, comb perforated 14¾. The print run was 100,000.
Four Scouts in campaign hats treat a patient in a white shamma on the lawn before a multi-storey hospital. The stamp is lettered Prince Makonnen Memorial Hospital, ETHIOPIA, 40c, and Amharic, with the printer's imprint HARRISON & SONS LTD.
