History
The Kingdom of Laos issued three stamps at Vientiane on 1 September 1973 for the 25th anniversary of the Laotian Scout Movement. M. Phoumsavath designed the 70 k (signed M. PHOUMSAVATH DEL); Ky Phungchaleun designed the two airmails. The French Stamp Printing Office engraved the set (Larrivière on the 70 k and 110 k; Jumelet on the 125 k) and printed it in recess, comb perforated 13. Each value had a print run of 100,000.
The 70 k (POSTES) is lettered BENEDICTION: a Buddhist monk gives a blessing to two kneeling figures, one in a Scout neckerchief, before a stupa. The 110 k airmail is lettered FEU DE CAMP: a Scout playing a flute beside a campfire and tent, with Scouts dancing at the right. The 125 k airmail is lettered INONDATION VIENTIANE 1966: Scouts in floodwater lifting a bicycle and helping a woman.
