History
Papua New Guinea issued two commemoratives at Port Moresby on 18 August 1976 for the fiftieth anniversary of Scouting, 1926–1976. Each stamp is landscape, 36 × 26 mm, inscribed Papua New Guinea and 50th Anniversary of Scouting 1926-1976, and carries a white Scout fleur-de-lis in a rope circle tied with a reef knot. Richard Bates designed the pair. Helio Courvoisier printed it in photogravure on granite paper, comb perforated 11¾, in panes of 50. The stamps were withdrawn from sale on 18 February 1977. A presentation pack was issued.
The 7 toea shows two Scouts in lap-laps lashing poles into a tripod beside a leaf shelter. The 15 toea shows two Sea Scouts on an outrigger canoe among reeds: one poles, the other handles a line; their lap-laps carry an anchor badge.
The same day's issue included two further values that do not show Scouting. They are not listed here.
