History
Nauru issued three commemoratives on 1 December 1978 for seventy years of Scouting. Each stamp is landscape, 47 × 33 mm, lettered Republic of Nauru, with a profile of Baden-Powell in a Scout hat, a white star marked 70, and a red fleur-de-lis.
The 20 cents shows a young Scout in a white shirt and green shorts giving the Scout salute, a hut and a yellow flag behind him. The 30 cents shows a Scout on the shore in a white shirt, red neckerchief and a patterned wrap, a palm at left. The 50 cents shows a Scout with a pack and staff before a tent and a palm.
John Charles designed the set. Format International Security Printers lithographed it, comb perforated 13 × 14, in panes of 20 as two rows of ten with a gutter. One hundred and fifty thousand of each value were printed. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 31 August 1979.
