Series history
In the early 1930s Danish Scouting helped public causes as well as its own camps. This perforated plakatmærke (poster stamp) was issued for K.F.U.M.-Spejderne i Aarhus Distrikt together with Det Danske Spejderkorps, Midtjyske Division, to raise support for a university in Jutland — «Støt Universitetet i Jylland» (“Support the University in Jutland”). Aarhus Universitet grew out of that campaign: teaching began in the late 1920s and the university was formally established in 1933.
The design shows a boy scout in uniform sounding a bugle (or trumpet), a church spire rising behind him, under a yellow sun. Across the lower half a blue band carries the slogan in yellow letters. A thin legend at the top names the two scout bodies. It is a classic Danish scout cinderella of the period: no franking value, sold or distributed as a charity seal, and catalogued among 1930s mærkater with scout motifs.
KFUM-Spejderne (YMCA Scouts) and DDS were already mature national corps by then; district labels like this one document how local troops turned the Scout image — readiness, service, the bugle call — into civic fundraising for education in western Denmark.
