Notes
Hand raised in the Scout salute before a globe bearing the World Scout fleur-de-lis, dates 1907-1957 above. Engraved by Eero Paukkari. Domfil 957.1 «Saludo / Salute». Print run 2,000,000 (SOSOW).
Series history
Finland issued a single 30 markka commemorative at Helsinki on 22 February 1957, Baden-Powell's birthday, for the fiftieth anniversary of the Scout movement. Domfil catalogues it as 957.1 «Saludo / Salute».
The dark blue design is the most economical of the centenary year: a hand raised in the three-fingered Scout salute, held before a globe carrying the World Scout fleur-de-lis, with the dates 1907-1957 above and SUOMI-FINLAND down the left side. Olavi Vepsäläinen designed it and Eero Paukkari engraved it for the State Bank Note Printing Works, recess-printed, comb perforation 14, in a run of 2,000,000.
