Fleur-de-lis with the national sun on a blue-and-red shield, scroll 智仁勇 beneath; headed 中國童子軍, dated 中華民國四十六年, footed 童子軍節紀念. No face value.

Series history

A commemorative label issued for Scouts' Day — 童子軍節 — in the forty-sixth year of the Republic of China (1957). It carries no face value and no postal validity: a cinderella of the Boy Scouts of China, printed in Taiwan.

The design centres on the Scout fleur-de-lis bearing the national sun (Blue Sky with a White Sun) over a blue-and-red shield, with a scroll reading 智仁勇 — wisdom, benevolence, courage. Vertical slogans flank the emblem: 實行三民主義 on one side and 負責任守紀律 on the other. Across the head runs 中國童子軍; at the foot, 中華民國四十六年 and 童子軍節紀念.

Scouts' Day falls on 5 March, recognised since 1926; the Founding Day of Scouts of China is 25 February 1912. Our sources give no printer, perforation gauge, or print quantity for this label. Domfil does not list it — only the postal commemoratives of 11 August 1957 for the world Scouting jubilee appear in that catalogue under Formosa.
