Notes
Chinese and Czechoslovak Young Pioneers in red scarves before the national flags; anniversary text celebrating the liberation of Czechoslovakia, 1945–1960, 中国人民邮政 and 8分.
Series history
The People's Republic of China issued two commemoratives on 9 May 1960 for the fifteenth anniversary of the liberation of Czechoslovakia. Domfil catalogues under that heading only the theme-relevant value as 960.22, motif «Juventud Pionera Checa y China / Czech and Chinese Youth Pioneers», and prices the set as 960.22/23.
The 8 fen vertical design (serial 纪79, 2-1) shows Chinese and Czechoslovak Young Pioneers in red scarves before the two national flags, with the anniversary dates 1945–1960 and 中国人民邮政 at the foot. Domfil does not itemise the companion 8 fen horizontal view of Prague (Scott CN 505 / Michel CN 533): that design is outside the Scout/Pioneer motif and is not a piece here.
Li Weu designed the set; the Beijing Postage Stamp Printing Works printed it by photogravure in panes of 50, perforation about 11. Chinese sources give a print of 8,000,000 for this value. Further references for the Pioneer stamp are Scott CN 504, Michel CN 532 and Yvert CN 1290. Size is given as 26 × 35.5 mm.
