Notes

Scout fleur-de-lis with Phrygian cap, stars and handshake; Campamento Scout Internacional de Patrullas

Series history

Argentina issued a 1 peso commemorative at Buenos Aires on 17 January 1961 for the International Patrol Camp — Campamento Scout Internacional de Patrullas.

Horacio Alvaraz designed the stamp: a white Scout fleur-de-lis on a carmine field, with Phrygian cap, stars and a handshake inside the emblem. The face value and CORREOS sit at the head; INTERNACIONAL DE PATRULLAS runs vertically; CAMPAMENTO SCOUT · ARGENTINA fills the foot. Casa de Moneda is named in the bottom margin.

Casa de Moneda printed three million copies by lithography in panes of one hundred on watermarked paper (multiple sun, RA and wavy lines), perforated 13½. An imperforate printing is also recorded. Specimens with a vertical MUESTRA overprint are known.
