Boy Scout in green guiding a Cub Scout in blue beside the Shureimon gate and a fleur-de-lis
Series history
The Ryukyu Islands issued a 3-cent commemorative on 6 February 1965 for the tenth anniversary of the Ryukyuan Boy Scouts. Shin Isagawa designed a Boy Scout in green uniform with a red neckerchief guiding a younger Cub Scout in blue, both looking toward a small view of the Shureimon gate beside the value; a white fleur-de-lis sits at lower right, and the stamp is inscribed 琉球ボーイスカウト創立10周年記念, 琉球郵便 and RYUKYUS 1965. The Japanese Government Printing Works printed about 800,000 copies by photogravure in panes of twenty with a border inscription, perforated 13½. Specimen stamps with the みほん (mihon) overprint also exist (1,500 reported).
