Series history

Uruguay issued a single airmail commemorative at San Ramón on 24 January 1968 for the twentieth anniversary of Scouting in the country, as a tribute to Robert Baden-Powell. Angel Medina designed the stamp; the Imprenta Nacional in Montevideo printed it by offset lithography in panes of twenty-five on paper watermarked with the sun and the letters ROU, comb perforated 12. The print run was 1,000,000. The sheet imprint reads Imp Nacional 1967. The design shows Baden-Powell in scout hat pointing, with a tent and a campfire, and is inscribed Correo Aéreo.
