Series history

Japan issued a 20 yen commemorative at Tokyo on 4 November 1972 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Boy Scouts of Japan. Takao Yamanouchi designed a Cub Scout in a blue uniform and a Scout in a khaki campaign hat exchanging the left handshake and saluting, with a gold fleur-de-lis between them. The Government Printing Bureau of the Ministry of Finance printed 32,000,000 copies by photogravure in panes of twenty, comb perforated 13½. Specimen stamps with the みほん (mihon) overprint also exist.
