Series history
The Philippines issued a 15 s engraved portrait of Josefa Llanes Escoda on 31 May 1973, one value from a series of prominent Filipinos. It was printed by recess, comb perforated 14½, measuring 22 × 33 mm. Sources give no designer or printer.
The stamp shows Escoda in a terno with embroidered butterfly sleeves, against a ground of fine horizontal lines. It is lettered Pilipinas, 15s, KOREO and JOSEFA LLANES ESCODA. Escoda founded the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
