History

Brazil issued a 30 cruzeiro commemorative at Rio de Janeiro on 17 July 1965 for the 1st Pan-American Scout Jamboree, held during the fourth centenary of the city. Bernardino Lanzatta designed the stamp: a Scout fleur-de-lis beneath a diamond emblem of the Rio centenary, with the arc Iº JAMBOREE PANAMERICANO · RIO DE JANEIRO · 1965 · IV CENTENÁRIO and CORREIOS DO BRASIL at upper right. The State Mint (Casa da Moeda) printed about 5,000,000 copies by photogravure in panes of fifty, perforated 11½. Souvenir cards reproducing the stamp design were also produced (30,000 reported).
