Series history

On 4 June 1950 Hungary issued a five-value commemorative set for International Child's Day, designed by Nagy Zoltán and printed in photogravure at the State Printing Works in Budapest. The 60 fillér shows a smiling boy in a peaked side cap beside a row of ridge tents, a flagpole and a line of children, with MAGYAR POSTA and the face value along the foot. Comb 12 × 12½, 44 × 33 mm, on paper watermarked with multiple five-pointed stars. About 4,401,000 copies of the 60 fillér were printed.

The 60 fillér first carried a different slogan along the top band; that wording was withdrawn and the issued stamp is inscribed SZABAD HAZÁBAN BOLDOG IFJÚSÁG — happy youth in a free homeland. The same design exists imperforate.
