Series history
Hungary issued a pair of 1 forint commemoratives on 2 June 1956 for the tenth anniversary of the Úttörőszervezet, the Pioneer organisation founded in 1946. Domfil catalogues them as 956.9 and 956.10, describing both designs as «Emblema / Emblem».
The two stamps share one design in different colours, the first in red and the second in grey-green: the profiles of a boy and a girl before a flowing banner carrying the word ELŐRE — «forward» — with a laurel spray at the right. The inscription curves around the top, AZ ÚTTÖRŐSZERVEZET FENNÁLLÁSÁNAK 10. ÉVFORDULÓJÁRA, for the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Pioneer organisation, above MAGYAR POSTA and the face value.
Both values also exist imperforate, which Domfil prices at several times the perforated pair. Those two are catalogued here after the perforated stamps, from the collection's own copies; they carry no separate Michel, Scott or Yvert number in our sources. Catalogue references for the perforated pair are Michel HU 1468–1469, Scott HU 1156–1157 and Yvert HU 1198–1199.
The Hungarian Pioneers join the Romanian, Bulgarian and Czechoslovak organisations already represented in the catalogue for these years, and follow Hungary's own Children's Day issues of 1950 and 1951.
