Notes

Scout in campaign hat in profile, tent outline, Brazilian Scout fleur-de-lis with SEMPRE ALERTA

Series history

Brazil issued a single airmail commemorative on 23 July 1960 for the fiftieth anniversary of Scouting in the country. The day coincided with the unveiling of a monument to Baden-Powell at Russel Beach, Rio de Janeiro.

Bernardino Lanzatta designed the stamp: a Scout in campaign hat, shown in left profile against a tent outline, with the Brazilian Scout fleur-de-lis and the motto SEMPRE ALERTA at lower left. The foot is inscribed CINQÜENTENÁRIO DO ESCOTISMO NO BRASIL - 1960. The value is 3,30 cruzeiros and the heading reads Brasil Correio Aéreo.

Casa da Moeda printed five million copies by photogravure in panes of twenty-five on watermarked paper (correio, star and Brazil), perforated 11½ × 11.
