Black overprint and surcharge on the 1959 red camp-fire design

Series history

The Philippines overprinted stocks of the 1959 10th World Jamboree issue for the 2nd National Boy Scout Jamboree at Pasonanca Park, Zamboanga, released at Manila on 2 May 1961. The overprint reads 2nd National Boy Scout Jamboree · Pasonanca Park, with new face values surcharged on the old.

Two singles belong to the basic set: a black surcharge and overprint on the red 6 + 4 centavos camp-fire design, raising it to 10 centavos (90,000 printed, panes of fifty, yellow paper); and a red surcharge and overprint on the blue 25 + 5 centavos archery design, raising it to 30 centavos (also 90,000, panes of fifty, yellow paper).

A tête-bêche pair of the two designs was issued on white paper, 100,000 pairs in panes of forty. Official Business overprints with the letters O.B. are also recorded.
