Notes

Scout fleur-de-lis above a circular badge with a traditional Fijian sailing canoe; Queen Elizabeth II at upper right. Sheets of 60 (6 × 10).

Series history

Fiji issued two commemoratives on 3 August 1964 for the fiftieth anniversary of Scouting in the colony (some accounts place the Suva release on 4 August). Victor Whitely and Norman Lee Joe designed the set; Harrison & Sons printed it by photogravure in panes of sixty, perforated 12½, with a multiple St Edward's Crown and CA watermark.

The 3d shows a red Scout fleur-de-lis above a circular badge containing a traditional Fijian sailing canoe, on an olive-green ground, with Queen Elizabeth II's portrait at upper right. The 1s shows three Scouts working with rope before a thatched bure and palms; the same portrait appears at upper right, and the foot is inscribed SCOUTING JUBILEE 1914-64. Print runs are given as 268,251 of the 3d and 202,068 of the 1s. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 3 November 1964.
