Series history
Saudi Arabia issued three commemorative stamps on 26 March 1966 for the Arab and Islamic Jamboree in the Holy Land. The gathering itself had been held the year before: each stamp is inscribed with the Gregorian year 1965 and the Hijri year 1384 along the vertical French legend «Jamboree des scoutismes des pays arabes et islamiques aux Terres Saintes». De La Rue printed the set by offset lithography, comb perforated 13. One hundred and sixty thousand copies of each value were produced.
The shared design places two circular Scout emblems on a yellow sunburst. One emblem shows the World Scout fleur-de-lis ringed by the continental names Asia, America, Europe, Africa and Australasia; the other shows a fleur-de-lis bearing a small view of the Kaaba. The 4 p is printed with green emblems, the 8 p with red and light-blue emblems, and the 10 p with blue and rose emblems. The country name appears in Arabic at the top and in French as «Royaume de l'Arabie Saoudite» along the foot.
