Notes

Horizontal design: Scouts with backpacks and wide-brimmed hats climbing a reddish-brown rocky slope toward a dark peak under a blue sky; the 12th World Jamboree emblem inset at upper left; inscribed JAMBOREE 1967 and POSTES. Designed by Michel Monvoisin.

Series history

On 7 August 1967 Dahomey issued three commemorative stamps and a souvenir sheet at Cotonou for the 12th World Scout Jamboree held in Idaho, United States. Michel Monvoisin designed the set; the Imprimerie des Timbres-Poste in Paris printed it in recess, comb perforated 13, in panes of 25. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 1 January 1969.

The 30 f (horizontal) shows Scouts with backpacks climbing a reddish rocky slope toward a dark peak, with the jamboree emblem inset at upper left. The 70 f (horizontal) shows three Scouts launching a canoe beside a tree and hills, with the emblem at upper right. The 100 f airmail (vertical) presents the jamboree emblem above a compass rose and braided ropes, with a world-map silhouette below, inscribed POSTE AERIENNE.

The souvenir sheet, face value 200 f, gathers the three designs — the airmail stamp elevated at centre between the two postage values — on a cream margin reading WORLD JAMBOREE 1967 / IDAHO — USA, with IMPRIMERIE DES TIMBRES-POSTE - PARIS at lower right. An imperforate souvenir sheet of the three designs is recorded in a printing of 50.
