Notes
Tall white souvenir sheet with serial number at upper right, red Scout fleur-de-lis and red Baden-Powell portrait at top, Arabic line and SOUTH ARABIA above the stamp. The 35 fils jamboree-emblem design is centred; below, WORLD JAMBOREE 1967 arched over IDAHO U.S.A., then QU'AITI STATE IN HADHRAMAUT and Arabic at the foot. The stamp is perforated within the sheet.
Series history
The Qu'aiti State in Hadhramaut, in South Arabia, issued a 35 fils airmail stamp in August 1967 for the 12th World Scout Jamboree held in Idaho, U.S.A. The stamp was printed by photogravure by F.N.M.T. and released both comb perforated 13 and imperforate. A matching souvenir sheet of 87 × 184 mm places the same design in a tall white frame with a Scout fleur-de-lis, a portrait of Baden-Powell, SOUTH ARABIA and bilingual Qu'aiti inscriptions; sheets were issued perforated and imperforate and carry serial numbers. Sources give a printing of 2,000 for the stamp. The postal status of the issue is disputed.
The design shows the 1967 World Jamboree emblem patch — a white fleur-de-lis over snow-capped mountains and evergreen trees, inscribed WORLD JAMBOREE 1967 and IDAHO, U.S.A. — with a small portrait of the sultan at upper right.
