Series history

Iraq issued four commemorative stamps and a souvenir sheet at Baghdad on 15 December 1967 for the Scouts Spring Festivals, honouring Iraqi Scouts and Guides. De La Rue printed the issue by lithography; the stamps are perforated 13 and were issued in panes of 50. The souvenir sheet carries the four designs with simulated perforations inside a decorative green border inscribed Scouts Spring Festivals 1967.

The 2 fils (orange) and 10 fils (green) share an emblem-and-salute design of twin medallions linked by a knotted rope — a Scout emblem in one circle and a three-finger salute in the other. The 5 fils shows Girl Guides cooking at a camp fire beside a tent. The 15 fils shows Scouts pitching camp.

Print quantities are recorded as 1,000,000 of the 2 fils, 1,500,000 each of the 5 and 10 fils, 2,500,000 of the 15 fils, and 25,000 of the 50 fils souvenir sheet.
