Notes

Souvenir sheet with 50 c airmail campfire and rocket; perforated stamp in sheet; PREPARING FOR TOMORROW

Series history

Liberia issued a commemorative set at Monrovia on 23 March 1967 for the 12th World Scout Jamboree, held in Idaho, United States. E. A. Wright Bank Note Company of Philadelphia printed the issue by lithography; the perforated stamps are gauged about 12½ and were issued in panes of 25.

The 10 c shows the jamboree fleur-de-lis emblem over snow-capped mountains and a pine tree line, with the legend IDAHO, U.S.A. The 25 c, inscribed FOR FRIENDSHIP, surrounds the Liberian Scout fleur-de-lis (letters RL) with vignettes of Scouts in athletics, football, basketball and water sports. The 40 c places a Scout at a campfire beside a mountain landscape and a standing rocket under WORLD JAMBOREE 1967 • IDAHO, U.S.A. Imperforate singles of the three values exist.

The 50 c airmail design — campfire and rocket in a lilac-carmine palette — appears on the souvenir sheet only, not as a separate single. The perforated sheet is headed PREPARING FOR TOMORROW with flanking Scout fleur-de-lis emblems and the script legend Republic of Liberia; the sheet also exists imperforate.
