Head-and-shoulders portrait of Prince Henri (born 1955) in Scout shirt, neckerchief and fleur-de-lis pocket badge on an olive ground; inscribed CARITAS 1967 and PRINCE HENRI; face value 3F+50c
Series history
Luxembourg released its annual Caritas charity issue on 6 December 1967, a semi-postal set of royal children and residences whose surtax supported child-welfare societies. Only one value is scout-themed: the 3 francs + 50 centimes shows Prince Henri (born 1955) in Scout uniform — shirt, neckerchief and fleur-de-lis pocket badge — against an olive ground, inscribed CARITAS 1967 and PRINCE HENRI, with the face value given as 3F+50c.
The design is taken from a photograph by Marcel Schroeder. Helio Courvoisier printed the stamp by photogravure on granite paper, comb-perforated 11¾, in panes of 25. The print run was 336,344; postal validity ran through 31 December 1968.
