Series history

Mali issued two airmail stamps at Bamako on 10 July 1967 for the 12th World Scout Jamboree, held in Idaho, United States. Claude Haley designed the set. The French Stamp Printing Office in Paris printed it in recess, comb perforated 13. The stamps measure about 31 × 52 mm. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 31 December 1968.

The pair was printed as a se-tenant strip with a central vignette between the two values. Sheetlets contained four such strips (eight stamps with labels). The 70 f shows scouting knots linked around circular emblems of a lion and a boar, with the 1967 World Jamboree badge at upper left. The 100 f shows a Scout in a campaign hat speaking into a handheld radio, concentric waves radiating from the antenna, red tents below, and the same jamboree badge. Both are inscribed REPUBLIQUE DU MALI, POSTE AERIENNE and JAMBOREE 1967; Haley's signature appears on each design.

The stamp badges read WORLD JAMBOREE 1967 IDAHO-U.S.A. The central vignette is inscribed JAMBOREE MONDIAL 1967 and SPOKANE ETATS-UNIS — Spokane, Washington, not the Idaho campsite of the jamboree. Imperforate copies and de luxe proofs of the set are recorded.
