Series history

Ras al-Khaimah issued seven stamps on 20 July 1967 for the 12th World Scout Jamboree held in Idaho, U.S.A., in August 1967. The set was printed by offset lithography and released both comb perforated 12 and imperforate. The four lower values (1 d to 4 d) are ordinary commemoratives; the 35 d, 75 d and 1 r are inscribed AIR MAIL. Ten thousand copies of each stamp value are recorded, in panes of twenty. Designer and printer are not established.

The designs are a Scout bugler before a fleur-de-lis flag and tents (1 d); a portrait of Baden-Powell (2 d and 75 d); Scouts at a camp fire (3 d); hiking Scouts (4 d); a large green Scout lily (35 d); and a Scout looking up at a Gemini-style space capsule (1 r). Two imperforate souvenir sheets accompanied the issue: one pairs the 75 d and 35 d airmail designs on a pink ground; the other carries the 1 r Scout and capsule design beside a map of the Americas. Both sheets are inscribed JAMBOREE AUGUST 1967 IN U.S.A. The postal status of the issue is disputed.
