Notes
Imperforate form of Györgyi Nemeskéri’s drawing: two children with flags and the inscription 50 ÉVE KMP.
Series history
Hungary issued three commemorative stamps on 16 November 1968 from a children’s stamp-drawing contest marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Hungarian Communist Party (Kommunisták Magyarországi Pártja, KMP). Zombory Éva designed the issue; the State Printing Works in Budapest printed it in photogravure. Each stamp frames a child’s drawing within the legend GYERMEKBÉLYEGRAJZ-PÁLYÁZAT • 1968 and MAGYAR POSTA.
The 40 fillér reproduces a drawing by Györgyi Nemeskéri of two children holding Hungarian and red flags above the inscription 50 ÉVE KMP. The 60 fillér, drawn by Péter Glatt, shows four children in red neckerchiefs holding a banner reading 50 éves a KMP Éljen!, flanked by a red flag and a Hungarian tricolour. The 1 forint, drawn by Antal Buza, depicts a campsite with two A-frame tents, a tree, a child in a red neckerchief, and a Hungarian flag among the hills.
The stamps measure 44 × 34 mm and were issued comb perforated 12 × 11½; an imperforate form of the set was also issued. The perforated print run was 1,455,000 of each value.
