Scout leader guiding two Cub Scouts; one gives the Scout salute

Series history

Togo issued seven lithographed stamps at Lomé on 23 November 1968 honouring Togolese Boy Scouts. Maxim Shamir designed the set for the Israel Government Printers. The 5 f shows a Scout with backpack before a green tent; the 10 f and 45 f show a leader with two Cub Scouts (one shading his eyes on the lower value, one saluting on the higher); the 20 f shows first-aid practice; and the 30 f shows two Scouts locking arms to lift a third. The 60 f and 90 f airmail stamps repeat the first-aid and Scout-game designs with the airmail inscription. Singles are comb-perforated 14 in panes of forty; imperforate singles of the seven designs also exist. A souvenir sheet gathers the two airmail values on an olive ground, the stamps showing simulated perforations.
