Four Guides around the Bermuda coat of arms; Queen Elizabeth II in silhouette; 1919–1969
Series history
Bermuda issued four commemoratives at Hamilton on 17 February 1969 for the fiftieth anniversary of Girl Guiding in the colony, 1919–1969. Harrison & Sons staff artists designed the set; Format International Security Printers lithographed it in panes of sixty (five by twelve), comb perforated 14, on paper watermarked with a multiple Crown and script CA. The 3d (purple) and 1s (green) show two Guides — one in a blue uniform and green neckerchief, the other in brown with a yellow neckerchief — beside a faint white trefoil, with Queen Elizabeth II in silhouette. The 1/6 (grey) and 2/6 (red) show four Guides of mixed ages around the Bermuda coat of arms, a red lion holding a shield of the Sea Venture wreck, with the dates 1919–1969.
