White souvenir sheet, 102 × 117 mm, with the gold-foil stamp lettered LORD BADEN-POWELL above and Founder of the Boy Scout Movement below.
Series history
Manama, a dependency of Ajman, issued a 20 riyal gold-foil airmail of Lord Baden-Powell on 14 May 1970. The stamp is embossed in gold on a black ground, 41 × 56 mm, and shows Baden-Powell in campaign hat with arms crossed, lettered Lord Baden-Powell OF GILWELL, MANAMA DEPENDENCY OF AJMAN, 20 RIYALS and AIR MAIL, with a Scout fleur-de-lis in each corner of the inner frame. Designer and printer are not established. The gold-foil stamp was also sold as a single in a folder. An imperforate of the same design exists, as does a souvenir sheet, 102 × 117 mm, placing the stamp on a white ground lettered LORD BADEN-POWELL and Founder of the Boy Scout Movement. Listings also date the issue 1 January 1970. Postal standing of the issue is not settled.
