Notes
Scout in uniform standing before a fleur-de-lis in a rope circle, with a Japanese pagoda and Mount Fuji above and a map of Mauritania at right, on a teal geometric ground. Vertical POSTE AERIENNE; 13e JAMBOREE MONDIAL TOKYO; REPUBLIQUE ISLAMIQUE DE MAURITANIE 100F. Designed P. Lambert; printed Delrieu.
Series history
Mauritania issued three airmail commemoratives at Nouakchott on 16 August 1971 for the 13th World Scout Jamboree in Japan: 35, 40 and 100 francs. Pierrette Lambert designed the set; Delrieu printed it by photogravure, comb perforated 12½, on enamel-coated paper, each stamp 32 × 32 mm. All three values show a Scout beside the fleur-de-lis, a Japanese pagoda and Mount Fuji, and a map of Mauritania, inscribed POSTE AERIENNE, 13e JAMBOREE MONDIAL TOKYO and REPUBLIQUE ISLAMIQUE DE MAURITANIE. An imperforate deluxe sheet of each design is also known.
Imperforate singles of the three values exist.
