Notes

Four Scout flags — blue, orange, green and magenta — the foremost blue with a gold fleur-de-lis in a rope circle. Inscribed 4th. CARIBBEAN JAMBOREE 1972; BARBADOS BOY SCOUTS 1912 ~ 1972; 50 CENTS.

Series history

Barbados issued four stamps on 1 August 1972 for the diamond jubilee of the Barbados Boy Scouts (1912–1972) and the 4th Caribbean Jamboree. Lawrence Quintyne of the Barbados Scout Association designed the 5, 15 and 25 cents; Caroline Barrow designed the 50 cents. Gordon Drummond prepared the finished artwork. Questa printed the set by lithography in panes of 25, comb perforation 14, with a multiple St Edward's Crown and CA watermark.

The 5 cents shows a green map of Barbados on blue, a small stone building with three arches on the island, and a yellow Scout fleur-de-lis; it is inscribed 4th. Caribbean Jamboree and BOY SCOUTS 1912 ~ 1972. The 15 cents, headed THE PIONEERS, places three portraits in diamond frames of lashed poles: Lord Baden Powell, Charles W. Springer and George B. Burton. The 25 cents shows a historical group photograph of Scouts, some with flags and a drum, dated 1912 and 1972. The 50 cents shows four Scout flags, the foremost blue with a gold fleur-de-lis, and the same jamboree and 1912–1972 legends.
