Series history
Dahomey issued three airmail stamps and a souvenir sheet at Cotonou in March 1972 for the International Seminar of World Scouting. Pierrette Lambert designed the set; Delrieu printed it by photogravure. Each stamp is inscribed REPUBLIQUE DU DAHOMEY, POSTE AERIENNE, COTONOU MARS 1972 and SEMINAIRE INTERNATIONAL DU SCOUTISME MONDIAL.
The 35 f shows a Scout in khaki giving the three-finger salute, left arm toward a World Scout flag on a staff with a fleur-de-lis finial. The 40 f shows Scouts around a marimba, with a stilt-house village on water behind. The 100 f shows Scouts in blue working a sandy field with long hoes, thatched roofs and tents behind.
The souvenir sheet, combined face value 175 f, places the three designs on a white card inscribed REPUBLIQUE DU DAHOMEY and SEMINAIRE INTERNATIONAL DU SCOUTISME MONDIAL / COTONOU. - MARS 1972.
