Notes
Diamond-shaped souvenir sheet on a light blue ground with white fleur-de-lis ornaments, GHANA in the lower left and right diamonds and 19 72 at the foot. Two stamps of different design: 40 p Sea Scouts in a canoe (brown) and 60 p Scouts studying (green). Combined face 100 p.
Series history
Ghana marked the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scout movement with five diamond-shaped stamps issued on 2 October 1972. Each design sits on a large white fleur-de-lis against a coloured ground and carries the inscription 65th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE INTERNATIONAL BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT along the upper edges. The 5 p shows two Scouts lying on the grass before the emblem with a Scout badge; the 15 p a Scout standing before a tent; the 30 p two Sea Scouts paddling a canoe; the 50 p a woman leader with a group of Cub Scouts; and the 1 ₵ four Scouts seated at a table studying. House of Questa printed the set by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, about 33 × 33 mm, in panes of 30 (6 × 5). All five values were also released imperforate.
A souvenir sheet of about 110 × 110 mm, likewise diamond-shaped, holds two stamps that repeat the canoe and studying designs at new values and colours: a 40 p Sea Scouts in brown and a 60 p Scouts studying in green, a combined face of 100 p, with fleur-de-lis ornaments in the remaining diamonds, GHANA in the side diamonds and 19 72 at the foot. Sources name no designer for the set.
