Series history

Iraq issued two commemorative stamps at Baghdad on 12 August 1972 for the 10th Arab Scouts Jamboree and Conference at Mosul. The stamps themselves give the meeting dates as 10 to 19 August 1972. Younis Mohammed Al Abdulla designed the pair; the German Security Printing Office in West Germany printed it by photogravure in panes of 25, comb perforation 13½ × 14. Fifty thousand copies of each value were printed.

Both stamps show two circular vignettes. The left circle has a Scout in khaki and a beret giving the three-finger salute, with tents and the Iraqi flag on a green field. The right circle is a chain-bordered emblem with a map of the Arab world and a Scout fleur-de-lis. The 20 fils is on magenta; the 25 fils is on purple. Each is inscribed IRAQ, POSTAGE, and 10th ARAB SCOUTS JAMBOREE AND CONFERENCE.
