Series history
Manama overprinted the July 1971 stamp-on-stamp 13th World Scout Jamboree issue UNICEF / 25th ANNIVERSARY in red, with the mother-and-child emblem. The six lower values and the 1- and 2-riyal airmails reproduce earlier stamps — Mahra State’s 1967 Idaho jamboree (10 dirhams), Qatar Scouts of 1965 (15 dirhams), Nigeria’s 1965 Scout jubilee (20 dirhams), Paraguay’s 1962 Baden-Powell airmail (25 dirhams), the Canal Zone’s 1960 Boy Scouts of America jubilee (50 dirhams), Brazil’s 1957 Baden-Powell centenary (75 dirhams), a Kathiri State of Seiyun 150 fils (1 riyal), and Austria’s 1962 Scout handshake (2 riyals) — each with a black 13th WORLD JAMBOREE line, a fleur-de-lis, and JAPAN 日本. The same designs exist line perforated 13½ and imperforate. A 10 riyal airmail souvenir sheet shows Neil Armstrong as an Eagle Scout and Dwight D. Eisenhower as honorary president of the Boy Scouts of America, with the same red overprint. A day of issue is not established. Postal standing is unsettled.
