Series history

The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen issued a 40 fils stamp at Aden on 20 July 1972 for Arab Youth Week. It is the Scout and Guide value of a four-stamp set. The design shows a parade: three youths in white sailor-style uniforms playing drums, and a column of Girl Guides in light-blue dresses with red belts and white neckerchiefs. The stamp is inscribed ARAB YOUTH WEEK and PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF YEMEN, with the corresponding Arabic legends, inside an orange-and-green geometric frame. Lithography, comb perforated 13½. Designer and printer are not established.
