Series history
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania issued four commemorative stamps on 16 July 1973 for the 24th World Scout Conference in Nairobi. Rena Fennessy designed the set; Harrison & Sons printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14½, about 28 × 44 mm, in panes of 50 as two blocks of 25 with a gutter. Each stamp is inscribed 24th WORLD SCOUT CONFERENCE NAIROBI 1973; the three country names rotate in order at the foot.
The 40 c shows two Scouts laying a brick wall, captioned LEARNING BY SERVING (5,600,000). The 70 c shows Baden-Powell's gravestone at Nyeri, Kenya, with the Scout and Guide emblems and the trail sign for gone home (1,200,000). The 1.50 s shows the World Scout emblem in a purple disc (600,000). The 2.50 s is a portrait of Baden-Powell in a campaign hat (260,000).
