Series history

Saudi Arabia issued three commemoratives at Jeddah on 13 January 1973 for the fifth Rover Moot in Mecca. Each stamp carries a circular badge lettered 5th ROVER MOOT MECCA, with a gold fleur-de-lis in a green wreath and the Arabic legend for the fifth Islamic Rover Gathering, over المملكة العربية السعودية and SAUDI ARABIA. The 4 p shows the Great Mosque in light blue, with a minaret at the right; the 6 p shows the Kaaba in the courtyard of the Great Mosque in purple; the 10 p shows a tented camp below a rocky hill in reddish pink. The Government Security Press printed the set by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, on paper watermarked with crossed swords and a palm tree.
