Series history

Samoa issued four commemoratives at Apia on 29 January 1973 honouring the Boy Scouts of Samoa. Gordon Drummond designed the set; Format International Security Printers printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, in panes of twenty-five, on paper watermarked with a kava bowl and WS multiple. Each stamp is inscribed SAMOA I SISIFO and BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT. The 2 sene shows Scouts saluting as the Samoan flag is raised; the 3 sene a first-aid demonstration, bandaging a boy on a stretcher; the 8 sene Scouts pitching a tent; the 20 sene four Scouts performing a Samoan action song.
