Series history
The Grenadines of Grenada issued five commemoratives and a souvenir sheet at Carriacou on 17 March 1976 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Girl Guides of Grenada. They are inscribed GRENADA GRENADINES and 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF GIRL GUIDES IN GRENADA, with a Girl Guide trefoil marked G G at upper left. Laszlo Gyula Vasarhelyi designed them; House of Questa printed them by offset lithography. The stamps measure 43 × 29 mm, are comb perforated 14¼, and were issued in panes of 50.
Each scene sits in a white trefoil. The ½ cent, on a pale blue ground, shows a Guide in tan kneeling to tend a camp fire, with tents behind. The 1 cent, on green, shows a Guide bandaging another's leg beside a first-aid box. The 2 cents, on moss green, shows a Guide studying a butterfly on her finger. The 50 cents, on blue, shows a Guide in a yellow apron stirring a bowl. The 1 dollar, on orange, shows a Guide sketching palms and water.
The souvenir sheet, 85 × 112 mm, carries a blue Girl Guide flag and a gold trefoil above a $2 stamp of a Guide playing a guitar, on a reddish-purple ground.
