Notes
Olive-green ground. Square. White Scout fleur-de-lis with two stars, a streamertail doctor bird, and a green map of Jamaica over wavy water. Inscribed Jamaica, 6TH CARIBBEAN and JAMBOREE 1977. Offset lithography, comb 13½, 32 × 32 mm.
Series history
On 5 August 1977 Jamaica issued four commemoratives of one design for the 6th Caribbean Scout Jamboree, held at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Each stamp is inscribed Jamaica, 6TH CARIBBEAN and JAMBOREE 1977.
Daphne Padden designed the set. The House of Questa printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 13½, 32 × 32 mm, in panes of 25, on paper watermarked with a multiple J and pineapple.
A white Scout fleur-de-lis with two stars fills the field. To the left is a green map of Jamaica over wavy water; at upper right a streamertail hummingbird — the doctor bird, Jamaica’s national bird and Scout emblem — perches on a white line, its long tail falling beside the fleur-de-lis. The 10 cent is on blue, the 20 cent on olive green, the 25 cent on orange and the 50 cent on magenta.
