Series history

Bangladesh issued two commemoratives on 1 January 1981 for the 5th Asia-Pacific and 2nd Bangladesh Scout Jamboree, held at the National Scout Training Centre at Mouchak, Gazipur, from 30 December 1980 to 6 January 1981. Both stamps are lettered 5th ASIA-PACIFIC/2nd BANGLADESH SCOUT JAMBOREE 1980-81, BANGLADESH and POSTAGE, with the same wording in Bengali.

Ahmed Fazlul Karim designed them; Rosenbaum Brothers in Vienna printed them by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, 30 × 42 mm, without watermark, in panes of 50. Each value was printed in 500,000 copies.

The two stamps share one design: a spotted deer leaping across a green field inside a red-bordered panel, with a Scout fleur-de-lis at the upper left of the panel. The 50 poisha and the 5 taka differ in face value and tint.
