Bugler before a line of scouts in formation
Series history
Dubai issued ten stamps on 20 January 1964 for the 11th World Scout Jamboree, held at Marathon, Greece, in 1963. A. Tcheterian designed the set; the stamps are offset-printed and perforated 12. Four designs run through the values: scouts forming a human pyramid, a bugler before camp tents, a march-past with a wolf-head staff, and a march-past with a bugler. Ordinary postage values are 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 naye paise; airmail values of 20, 30, 40 and 70 naye paise and 1 Gulf rupee are inscribed AIR MAIL. Print runs ranged from 1,000,000 of the 1 naye paise to 50,000 of the 70 naye paise and 1 rupee airmails. Five imperforate souvenir sheets accompanied the set, each a block of four of one airmail design (80 naye paise, 120 naye paise, 160 naye paise, 280 naye paise and 4 rupees), in an edition of 19,000 sets of sheets.
